Marilyn Bodwell, Governor Wentworth Arts Council’s “Artist of the Month” for July 2006, has sketched and painted since childhood. In the 1960’s living in Birmingham, Michigan, she joined an art group studying under Canadian Artist, Mary Fee, and painted with them for the next 15 years. She was active in the South Oakland Art Association, Royal Oak, Michigan. Moving to Cape Cod in 1982, she was a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Association, Barnstable, MA. In 1990 her move to Skidaway Island found her joining the Landings Art Association, Savannah, GA. Two years later she moved to Mirror Lake, NH where she and her husband built their present home. Having traveled and moved frequently, she finds inspiration in the many photographs taken of florals, landscapes, seascapes and birds. Also she has done numerous commissions of private home oil paintings. A former TWA flight attendant, private pilot and sailor, her work has won awards in many juried shows and her paintings are hanging throughout the country.
